TEAM INDOOR DERBY SERIES !
Get a head start on the season by joining us for a fun, competitive day of team indoor derbies!
Here's how it works - get together a team of 3 horses/riders and ride over one or both level of courses. We are encouraging stables and farms to gather their troops and head on over! If you can't get a team together, we can add you to others that may be in the same situation. Limited to 8 teams for Intro (2'3/2'6) and 8 teams for Open (3'/3'3").
In the morning, we will have the Intro level course set up and in the afternoon we will reset the course for Open level. Each team member will ride the course set out which will include stadium and some of our portable cross country jumps with logs, cabins, feeders etc. There will be a hidden optimum time that will be set for each course.
TIMING - In order to ensure safe and controlled riding (fastest time will not be the determining factor) we will have a window of 5 seconds on either side of the hidden optimum time and time penalties will be "awarded" if you are outside those 5 seconds.
ie. If hidden optimum time is 2:00 min and you come over the finish flags at 1 min 45 sec you will get time penalties for going too fast - if you come through the finish flags at 2 min 10 seconds time penalties will be given for going too slow.
PENALTIES will also be awarded for knock downs and refusals as per regular show jumping competitions. 4 pp for a knock down, 4 pp for first refusal elimination after 3 refusals over entire course elimination. If there is a refusal on one of the cross country jumps it will be 20 pp.
WARM UP There will be a warm up round available but prior to your timed round – Your team will enter the arena and you will have 20 min to warm up as a team then when you are ready your first rider will start.
The scores of each team member will be combined and tabulated and the team with the lowest penalty points wins!
POINTS – Points will be tabulated for the teams that compete at all 3 farms hosting the indoor competition – Twisted Pine, Highland Green and Sprucehaven. Year end awards will be given at the annual SOCTA banquet. To be eligible for the year end awards, 2 of the original horse/rider combinations must compete at all 3 indoor events.
Winning team barns will be named yearly on our perpetual trophy!
COST - per team is $150 (3 riders) or $50 for individual, awards to all members of teams up to 3th place. SOCTA, HST and medic fees all included. Closing date Wednesday before the competition.
So, hone your jumping and timing skills and get your team together. Get creative, name your team and great prizes available. Let’s have some fun and knock out those winter blues!
